Agulhinha da Gávea (Pedra Aguda)

The Tijuca National Park is divided into three visitation sectors - Forest, Serra da Carioca and Pedra Bonita/Pedra da Gávea - and has program options for everyone: from picnic and barbecue areas to hang gliding, climbing, hiking and other activities. Among the famous postcards of the country, we have Corcovado Mountain, where the statue of Christ the Redeemer is located, one of the seven wonders of the modern world, Vista Chinesa, Pedra da Gávea, Parque Lage and Paineiras. The sector Pedra Bonita/Pedra da Gávea is located between the neighborhoods of São Conrado, Barra da Tijuca and Alto da Boa Vista. This is the smallest sector of the Tijuca National Park, but it is the place with the most options for adventure sports and the most beautiful views of Rio de Janeiro. There are several climbing routes with different degrees of difficulty, trails and hang gliding and paragliding, on one of the world's most famous and busy ramps, located at Pedra Bonita. This sector is also home to the imposing Pedra da Gávea with more than 800 meters of altitude. Agulhinha da Gávea, also known as Pedra Aguda, stands out among the Park's mountains because of its pointed shape, besides having an incredible view of São Conrado beach and its surroundings. With about 10 climbing routes, Agulhinha is faster to climb if compared to Pedra da Gávea, because the access is easier and the wall is smaller. In four hours or less it is possible to reach the summit and return to the base of the mountain. To get down you just have to follow an easy trail, which ends near the Pedra Bonita free-flight ramp. Because of the beauty of the place, Agulhinha is an excellent option for those who want to climb for the first time in the Tijuca National Park.
