Outdoors – Cidade das Artes

Cidade das Artes (City of Arts) is a major cultural center placed in Barra da Tijuca district. It has different rooms with multiple functions, making it a very versatile space for production. The extern area presents a large water mirror, covered spaces, and, in its interior, excellent facilities. This space host musical performances, theater plays, dance, among other cultural manifestations.
Surrounding the big concrete structure, the outside areas of Cidade das Artes are a scenic attraction. In the landscape it's possible to observe the mountains and the vastness of Barra da Tijuca. Under the edification, the garden projected by Fernando Chacel has lakes and paved areas drawn on Portuguese mosaics, a tribute to the landscaper Burle Marx. The place also have a parking area for 750 automobiles.
