The paved path - also known as Caminho do Bem-te-vi and Estrada do Costão - enters at the end of Praia Vermelha and is 1.25 km long. During the way, the visitor walks surrounded by the sea on one side and the green of Morro da Urca on the other, being able to observe native trees such as brazilwood and fig trees. Wild animals can also often be seen, such as marmosets and Tiê-sangue birds - the bird symbol of the Atlantic Forest.
The place is ideal for hiking, since bicycles, skateboards, and rollerblades are prohibited. The trail also calls the attention of adventure lovers. The entrance to the famous Morro da Urca trail is located along the track to the left. The trail is easy and short - average time of 40 minutes - but a little steep. Once on Urca Hill, the adventurer has the option of buying a ticket to go up to Sugar Loaf or back down to Praia Vermelha; if he prefers, he can also walk down the trail. The path is part of the Morros do Pão de Açúcar and Urca Natural Monument.
