Municipal Theater – Assyrius Hall
Inaugurated in 1909, the Municipal theatre is one of the main show houses of Brazil and Latin America. Currently, it got a big reform, where gems like a large original panel of the Italian Eliseu Visconti was rescued. Important areas of it was restored, with a highlight to the impressive eagle of 350kg that garnishes the construction top, it earned 8 thousand gold papers 23 karats of gilding. Its design was inspired on the Paris Opera.
The Assyrius Hall is located on the ground floor of the building. It is divided into two plans and has a low seeling supported by columns that have their bases decorated with bull's heads. The Hall, also known as Assyrio, is revested in enameled ceramics and decorated with mosaic panels. It hosted the firsts Theater's masquerades. The place has two kitchens, a storeroom, bathrooms, and also two balconies.
