João Caetano Theater

João Caetano Theater is the oldest theater in Rio de Janeiro, inaugurated in 1813, by Dom João VI. Originally Real São João Theater, the theater was the scene of important Brazilian historical events. It was there the signing cerimony of the first Brazilian Constitution. Its versatility to host various genres of perfomances – operettas, tragedies, concerts, comedies, concerts and musicals – has made it one of the best known and most respected scenic spaces in the country.
The Theater has a stage and three levels of audience: first floor (605 seats), Noble Balcony (117 seats) and Simple Balcony (417 seats), summing up 1,139 seats. The stage measures 10.85 m wide and 6.20 m height, with curtains in black. The curtains rods system is manual, with counter-weighing. In addition, the facilities comprise eight dressing rooms, six dressing rooms for up to 06 people, and two dressing rooms for a larger group of up to 30 people.
