Barra da Tijuca Beach

Barra da Tijuca beach is one of the largest in Rio de Janeiro. It is located in the neighborhood of the same name, which is the economic, cultural and political center of the West Zone. Its green and clear waters extend along Avenida Lúcio Costa all the way to Recreio dos Bandeirantes. It is an ideal beach for surfing, windsurfing, bodyboarding, futvôlei, and volleyball. It has many bars, restaurants and kiosks, night time lighting, and a bike path. On the beach avenue, formerly Avenida Sernambetiba, there are many hotels, including a five-star hotel from the Sheraton chain and a Windsor chain hotel.
