Caminho das Grutas (Cave Path)
The Tijuca National Park is divided into three visitation sectors - Forest, Serra da Carioca and Pedra Bonita/Pedra da Gávea - and has program options for all audiences: from picnic and barbecue areas to hang gliding, climbing, trails and other activities. Among the famous postcards of the country, we have Corcovado Mountain, where the statue of Christ the Redeemer is located, one of the seven wonders of the modern world, Vista Chinesa, Pedra da Gávea, Parque Lage and Paineiras. The Floresta sector is an important and large area of green in the heart of Rio de Janeiro. Also known as Floresta da Tijuca, there is nature and privileged recreational spaces to enjoy the day with friends, family, and children. It is also here that an infinity of trails for all kinds of public is concentrated, with two main circuits: dos Picos and do Vale Histórico, besides part of the largest urban trail in Brazil, the Transcarioca.
The Cave Path is a trail of low degree of difficulty, where visitors pass by the main caves of the Park, such as Paulo and Virginia, Belmiro, Bernardo de Oliveira and Morcegos, which is formed by an immense fracture with a depth of more than 100 m. This path also passes through the 2000 School Camp, a famous natural climbing wall widely used for training the activity and where the most difficult routes are found within the TNP.
