Ipanema Beach

The neighborhood of Ipanema was consecrated by Vinícius de Moraes and Tom Jobim in the song Garota de Ipanema. As beautiful as the song, the neighborhood's beach has been a meeting place for young people and artists since the late 1960s. At the beginning and end of the day, the beach is very popular for activities such as walking, biking, and socializing at the kiosks along the shore. It is one of the city's famous hotel spots, with a large concentration of high standard international hotels. On sundays and holidays, vehicle traffic is prohibited, and the internal lanes are free to the public.
