Madureira Park

The park is not only superlative in its dimensions, being the third largest in the city, but also in the leisure options it offers to the residents of Rio's North Zone. Volleyball, basketball and soccer courts, as well as a synthetic grass field for soccer matches, share the space with fountains, streams, kiosks, skateboarding lane, orchard, and toys.
Native trees, palm trees, as well as flowers and kilometers of grass, make the space amply wooded. Sustainable practices, such as solid waste control, rainwater use, solar energy capture and use, and low consumption lighting are part of the park's daily routine. The park, which follows the railway line that cuts through the neighborhood, also has two cultural spaces: the Arena Carioca, which will host cultural performances, and the Praça do Samba (Samba Square), a space dedicated to the musical genre that is so influential in the neighborhood that has two of the oldest Carioca samba associations - Portela and Império Serrano.
