Municipal Natural Park of Catacumba

Catacumba Park is in an area that was reforested in the 1970s. With almost 27 hectares, the park has a great diversity of trees, plants, and flowers. In the lower part, several sculptures can be admired. Paved paths and small squares with stone floors make the place perfect for walks and picnics. On the upper part, the dense forest takes over.
A 600-meter trail leads to the Sacopã lookout, where there is a beautiful view of the Rodrigo de Freiras Lagoon and the Botanical Garden, besides Ipanema beach, the Pedra da Gávea (Gávea Rock) and the Dois Irmãos Hill. Visitors can enjoy the leisure activities offered by a private company that operates in the park, among them tree climbing, rappelling, zip line and climbing wall.
